January Offerings, Website Update, And More!
So I have some bad news, good news, and life updates to share since it's been since December 17th I last updated.
So the bad news: I've had to get rid of my website. I felt like it was eating up too much of my profit (it ate nearly half of what I make and I barely make much to begin with). While I am not here to become rich and famous or be an influencer, I do need to make a living to be able to provide for myself. This year, I will be in business for 5 years. I decided to cut out the website altogether and stick to social media and Blogger for now. I may eventually go to Substack. But I need to build an audience first. Which is what I'm doing on social media and Blogger. I have also decided to start paying myself $50 a month to put away for personal needs. This is my first year I am paying myself. I have went without pay for the last 4 years. Year 5 is where it all changes. I have enough to sustain paying myself $50 once a month.
The good news: I have decided to quit trying to be a tarot influencer because I do not want to be one. I want to be thought of as the Village Tarot Reader. Or Local Tarot Reader. I want to build community in my local community here in Flint, Michigan. While I cannot offer in-person readings at this time, I'm still planning on doing and hosting events. I had such a successful turn out at my recent event at Totem Books for $5 New Years Readings. People loved their readings and they felt the messages aligned and resonated. That makes me happy. Seeing people light up when I say something that resonates, not getting likes, comments, and shares on Instagram. So I will focus on posting less content on social media, but will use social media for events and to promote this blog. I'm planning on dedicating more time to this blog filled with my knowledge of tarot, astrology, and spiritual topics. I'm hoping to also film some pick-a-card readings that are meant for this blog only. They will be unlisted videos, like my private readings. I don't want to be a YouTuber. I just want to have fun slinging cards and bringing clarity and empowerment to people.
As for personal updates, my dad still isn't doing well despite being back home from the hospital on December 3rd. He's walking with a walker and using a wheelchair, which I am thankful for as we didn't have access to either of these things before. But he still falls from time to time with his walker. He has an appointment with his neurologist next week and has a follow-up appointment with his primary care doctor on Monday. I'm hoping the neurologist has some answers why he is so weak and can barely walk. I am playing respite caretaker and financial manager in the family on top of running my business and working on personal growth and my writing.
I'm hoping to share a spread I created while listening to "Enjoy The Silence" by Depeche Mode next week! And I plan on sharing some opinion pieces that I've held back on sharing because it will cost me followers. But it needs to be said and I am not going to play small anymore. This is part of my personal and business growth.
