Introduction

I first came across the Take What You Need oracle deck on Instagram, through another tarot/Oracle reader. I fell in love with the artwork. And then I was off to Google to investigate. I pulled up more of the images of the cards, and I fell even more in love.

Instagram Aesthetic or Deep?

Take What You Need is definitely Instagram aesthetic but also deep and uplifting. I would say the messages come easily to your intuition, but also the messages on the cards work well for stand alone messaging. Especially when you don't feel like tapping into your intuition. I have read with this deck many times since acquiring it in 2025, and I have felt powerful channelings come through. I have also used it when I wasn't in the mood to tune into my intuition and used it for pick-me-up purposes. And the messages resonated on their own.

Messages & Cardstock

The messages one the cards are direct and clear, but positive and uplifting. There are 56 cards total in the deck. There are a few toxic positivity cards, in my humble opinion, that can offend or leave a bad taste in a client's mouth . And they are:

"What you're currently going through is fulfilling a purpose"

"You're exactly where you're meant to be in this moment"

"Guard yourself against negativity by focusing on gratitude"

Though well-intentioned, these three individuals may struggle to connect with certain clients. Perspective is what it's all about. If you read for this deck, deliver these messages gently. From my perspective as a sexual assault survivor, not all is purposeful. Sexual assault serves no purpose. Sexual assault is wrong, and no one should experience it. I find the message "What you're going through has a purpose" to be upsetting, and I think it would also upset trauma survivors.

For "You're exactly where you're meant to be in this moment" is a mixed message. Sometimes, people cannot afford the time, energy, or money to be in better places, so sometimes you are not exactly where you're meant to be—you just have shitty circumstances that you cannot change right now.

As for "Guard yourself against negativity by focusing on gratitude", is a nice thought, but gratitude doesn't solve problems. It doesn't pay the electric bill. It doesn't feed your kids. It doesn't help you not get evicted. And you can never really guard yourself against negativity. Negativity will always be there. It's how you react to negative situations, circumstances or people that matters. Not avoiding negativity at all costs. Negativity develops character, or it changes your worldview. That's it. And going back to the sexual assault example, it doesn't develop character, but it changes the person's perspective of his/her world.

The three "Toxic Positivity" cards

The card stock is thick with a matte finish. Perfect for using on YouTube or social media and getting no glare from lights or light rings. The back of the card art is girly and cute with illustrations of mushrooms, suns, crescent moons, rainbows, shooting stars and more. You should not read this deck inverted or reversed. Read as upright only. And it does not come with a guidebook or a QR code (if any deck comes with a QR code it's a fake — do NOT scan it!).

Card Backing

My Favorites
A majority of my favorites are the rainbow cards or cards with rainbows on them.

"Make time to celebrate how far you've come" with the white cake and rainbow icing

"Seek Magic in Life's Mundane Moments"

I just love the crystal ball!

"Make Time to Celebrate How Far You've Come" on the left, "Seek Magic in Life's Mundane Moments" on the right.

"Make time to sit with difficult feelings"

I love how the umbrella transmutes the rain into a magical rainbow

"Embrace the creativity you have within you"

I love painting, and it's another rainbow card

"Make Time to Sit With Difficult Feelings" on the left, "Embrace the Creativity You Have Within You" on the right.

"Setting clear boundaries is an act of self-love"

Seriously, I love the white picket fence as the boundary and the rain being transmuted into a rainbow.

Setting clear boundaries is an act of self-love.

My First Reading with the Deck

My first reading. "It's time to create change by seeking out new opportunities."

My first time using this deck, I pulled "It's time to create change by seeking out new opportunities". This came at a time when I wanted to write a spicy novella, but I was unsure if I should. I have always wanted to be a romance/erotica author, but I am known for poetry and my tarot spread book, Saturday Morning Tarot. This was basically my yes card, go for it. So, I am now writing a spicy novella. I also took this as a sign to look for "a real job" as my tarot business isn't paying the bills. So I've been job hunting, low-key. The message came in clear and simple.

Who Would Vibe with This Deck?

Out of who would vibe with this deck, I would say children, teenagers, young adults, and women who love cute hand drawn illustrations. I think the illustrations and messages would cheer up a person who is sad or going through a tough time (considering they are not an art snob). I also feel like this would be great for a first Oracle deck for a beginner, for those who would like to try an oracle deck before they decide if oracle reading is for them or not.

The drawings are simple, hand-drawn illustrations. The colors are bright and cheerful. There are no scary images or scary messages. And the deck creator even wrote a note on how to use these cards. She wrote:

"I'm so glad you chose to pick up this deck! Each card is designed to help you tune in to your inner voice when you're unsure of what to do next -- or you just need a bit of inspiration! Choose a card and let it's message be your guide. You can also choose a card at the beginning of each week and allow the affirmation to inspire you all week long. There is no right or wrong way to use this deck. Its only goal is to help you find inspiration and encouragement, and each card will bring you the message you need to see exactly when you need to see it."

A note from Dani DiPirro on how to use this deck.

How to Use and Other Notes

Take What You Need says it's an affirmation deck, but I don't consider it an affirmation deck as none of the cards start with "I am". and usually affirmations start with "I am" or "I". I'd consider these more quotes and mantras., and thoughts So, the affirmation deck on the box is misleading.

You could also use this deck to help guide your tarot readings. Draw a card before and then reflect with your tarot cards and tarot journal.

I also find that using this deck as you begin a tarot or psychic reading or as a closing card for a reading with a client will add a touch of hope and positivity for your clients, especially if they had a not-so-good reading.

Take What You Need is also a great pick-me-up card for when you want a little of inspiration but don't feel like tapping into your intuition. Like I said earlier, the messages on the cards are great by themselves.

Overall, I would recommend Take What You Need. It would make a great gift for yourself or someone going through a difficult time. I also feel like it would be a great first oracle deck for someone who is very new to oracles and tarot.

I have pulled an oracle card for everyone who reads this blog. I'll let you all interpret the card.

A mesage for my readers: "Trust your instincts to guide you toward your truth."

"Trust your instincts to guide you toward your truth."
